Lost Wax & Cuttle Fish Bone
Cuttle Fish Casting.
1) Begin with a piece of cuttle fish bone
2) Cut and sanded
3) Design that is carved into the bone with dental tools or other carving instruments
4) The 2 halves are attached with wire
5) Metal "shot" (pewter shown below) is heated with a torch in a crucible until the metal is liquid
6) Liquid metal is poured into the cuttle fish mold
7) Wait a few minutes, cut off wire and see the result
8) Any extra metal must be cut off, filed, and the polished
