Lost Wax Casting- Students work with wax to create a ring or sculptural form that will eventually be transformed into metal (sterling silver or bronze) using a centrifuge machine. Even after a piece is casted there is work to do. Students must still cut, file, sand, and polish to end up with an amazing polished piece.
Sarah received a SILVER KEY at the 2018 Scholastic Student Art Awards at Columbus College of Art and Design for her set of 5 lost wax casted bronze rings. All rings have small carved faces in them.
Sarah has been working in lost wax casting for a couple of years now and even did some peer teaching on the subject with Craft 2 students this year. |
